Tag You're It

Hello everyone!
I’m back with a quick post...There’s a new card challenge in Blog Land called, ‘Tag You’re It’, which has been coordinated by Jackie Rockwell! And let me tell you, Jackie has chosen an AMAZING Design Team with the most inspiring tags!

This week is a ‘Warm Up’ mini-challenge, and the Guest Designer is Karin Akesdotter, who provided the inspiration for us with this tag:

I was inspired by Karin’s water coloring and how she created her really cute beach scene. So, I die cut my PTI tag with water color paper, stamped the umbrella’s and sand, and used distress inks and water to color everything. I also created a gift box, with stamped sea shells in Soft Pool ink, and added ribbon and a bow. Here is my tag:

I can’t seem to put down my new Mama Elephant stamps, so I created a 2nd tag just for fun:

For this tag, I used Lil’ Inkers stitched tag die, then stamped, die cut and colored the little girl, and popped her up on vellum clouds.

That’s it for me today...I hope everyone's week is off to a great start!

I Love You

Hello everyone!
I have a card to share, and I’ll be entering it into 2 challenges:

CASology challenge for the Cue Card ‘Wood’ and for the Addicted to Stamps challenge for the theme ‘Anything Goes’.

So, for my wood element, I decided to keep it really ‘clean’ and use white woodgrain cardstock for the clouds and card base. I also stamped one of those adorable little girls from my new Mama Elephant 'In My Heart' stamp set, and colored her with Copics. I popped her up on a 'grassy' hill and embossed the sentiment in white...a little WOS on her dress and flower, and that was it! Perfect card for my 7 year old granddaughter - she'll love the 'sparkly' pink dress!

So, that's it for me today...I hope everyone is having a relaxing weekend! Thanks so much for stopping by ~

It's Written in the Stars

Hi everyone ~
Today is my turn to post on the a2zScrapbooking Supplies Blog and I'm featuring the Hero Arts Written in the Stars Stamp Set...Please stop in and say hello!

For my first card, I inked up the stars in sort of a rainbow order, then die cut the Thank You die to include some of the stars. I used the technique shared by Laura Bassen in This Video, and added Wink of Stella clear glitter brush to each of the large stars.

                       -------------------------------------------------------

For my 2nd card, I embossed and fussy cut the heart and added a touch of Wink of Stella clear glitter brush to the tiny circles and stars on the perimeter of the heart. I embossed the Kraft panel to add some texture, and Glossy Accents to the red hearts to give them a little shine. The dark blue background is stamped in a tone-on-tone blue ink, and everything is adhered to a Kraft card base.

                              --------------------------------------------
For my last card, I really wanted to use a non-traditional color combo. So, I stenciled the white panel with Soft Pool ink, and embossed the stars and sentiment with silver embossing powder. I also inked the wood veneer star with Hero Arts Silver Shadow ink, and added a cute little bow die cut with turquoise foil cardstock.

Well, that's it for me today. Don’t forget to link up your creation for the 'Stars and Stripes Linky Party' for a chance to win a $25 gift card to the A2Z Scrapbooking Store. And, anytime you're visiting the store, you are more than welcome to use Coupon Code BARB15 for 15% off your order of $25.00 or more (not including tax and shipping). And the Winner is....

Hi everyone ~
Thank you all for stopping by during my announcement last week with your congratulations and good wishes! The winner of my Blog Candy is ~

Sarah Gray! Sarah left a comment on June 15th stating that her favorite technique is 'Emboss Resist’. Congratulations, Sarah! Please email me (barbghig@yahoo.com) with the stamp set of your choice from the a2z Scrapbooking Store, and your personal information, and I will get your prize in the mail asap!

I also have a card to share today. The Code Word this week at Addicted to CAS Challenge is ‘Sun’! So, I inked up my brand new ‘My Sunshine’ stamp set from Mama Elephants’ latest release, and got busy:

I stamped the sun rays with yellow pigment ink, and added the boy and girl bunny from the ‘Honey Bunny’ stamp and die set. Popped on those cute little white pom-poms, a few clear sequins, and a sweet sentiment. I also added a touch of Wink of Stella clear glitter to the bunny ears. I think this would be the perfect card for my granddaughter (age 7), when I just want to say ‘hello’.

And...since this card qualifies for Darnell's NBUS Challenge,I would also like to enter it there, too! If you're not familiar with this term, NBUS stands for 'never-before-used-schtuff'...gotta love her!!! :-)

I hope everyone had a wonderful and relaxing weekend, and that your week is off to a great start! Thanks so much for stopping by!

Happy Birthday ATSM!

For a chance to win some Blog Candy, please be sure to leave a comment on THIS POST

Hi everyone ~ A quick post tonight...I have two cards to share for a few different challenges. The first card is for Addicted to Stamps & More who are celebrating their 2nd birthday and 100th challenge!

The inspiration photo for the challenge is a rainbow of colors, so I stamped my heart-shaped balloons with that in mind, and added my sentiment. Huge CONGRATS to Kylie and the amazing Design Team at ATSM...you girls are the BEST!

                   -----------------------------------------------

My 2nd card is for the collaborative challenges at Case This Sketch and Fusion Card Challenge and the current challenge at Clearly Besotted Stamps  (Anything Goes).

So, for my card, I used the color inspiration from the Fusion Card Challenge (lots of gold), and the sketch from Case This Sketch. I added a touch of Delicata Gold ink to Pearlescent embossing paste for the stars, and colored white thread with a gold Copic Marker.

So, that’s it for me ~ Thanks so much for stopping by!

Hi everyone,
Just a quick post today...This week, CASology is celebrating their 100th Challenge, and the Cue Card is "Celebrate"! So, I couldn't resist playing along, and created this card!

I stamped the confetti, stars and dot icons from 2 different Mama Elephant stamp sets with Hero Arts Neon inks, embossed the sentiment using black glitter embossing powder to give the card some sparkle, and mounted the panel on to a black base. I also added a touch of Wink of Stella clear glitter to icons. And, that's it...C. A. S.!!!

Before I go, I would just like to thank the past and present Design Team girls for always inspiring me to create, and for all the support they've given to all the players in their challenges...they are truly an amazing and seriously talented group...Thanks, ladies!

Well, I hope everyone is getting ready to have a great weekend! Thanks so much for stopping by ~

Playing with Feathers

Hi everyone ~
For a chance to win some Blog Candy, please be sure to leave a comment on THIS POST.

I have a post today on the a2zScrapbooking Supplies Blog featuring the Hero Arts Feathers Stamp Set.

For my first card, I inked up my new Feathers stamp set with two shades of pigment inks using the "Rock n’ Roll" technique. I embossed the sentiment with Pumice Stone Embossing Powder, and inked the Hero Arts Borders Stencil  to add a pop of color to the card. I also added a few of my DIY clear enamel dots (made with Perler Beads), and a thin strip of glitter cardstock.

For my 2nd card, I inked one of the smaller feathers in this stamp set with versamark and embossed them with white embossing powder, and inked the background with 5 different distress inks.

Well, that's it for me today. Don’t forget to link up your creation for the 'Stars and Stripes Linky Party' for a chance to win a $25 gift card to the A2Z Scrapbooking Store! Scraplings!

Hi everyone,
A quick post tonight...I created two cards for different challenges. The first one is for Virginia’s View Challenge, and we have been asked to create a tag or scrapling (the leftover cardstock from an A2 card base which was cut down to become a square card). Here is my 'Scrapling':

Previously, I die cut this Poppy die in a few different colors, so I dug them out of my ‘save for later basket’, and inlaid the pieces into my scrapling. I also used a pink ‘thanks’ die cut from a project that went south a few weeks ago. Virginia also asked us to recycle a household item, but I’m afraid I don’t have anything to fulfill that criteria.

                    -----------------------------------------------------

My second card is for this week’s challenge at Muse. Therese Calvird created a really cute card with die cut words in a repeat pattern, so I thought it would be a fun idea for my hubby’s Father’s Day card.

I also inlaid the die cut sentiments on this card, and kept the design very simple...a few veneer stars and a sentiment from Hero Arts, and I was all set. My hubby is a simple guy, so it’s perfect for him.

I just wanted to let everyone know that tomorrow, I will be making a very big announcement here, and also have a small surprise for everyone. So, please stop by for the festivities!

I hope everyone is having a relaxing weekend. Thanks so much for stopping by ~ Barb

Way to Go!

Hi everyone ~
I have a quick post for this two challenges. The first is for CASology and the Cue Card is Anniversary.

I pulled out my Lil’ Inkers butterflies and die cut them in felt. Even though it's hard to see on screen, I embossed the butterfly trail as well. I also heat embossed the sentiment in silver and added a scalloped border for the lavender card base.

                 --------------------------------------------------------

My 2nd card is for this week’s challenge at Addicted to CAS and the Code Word is Transport.

I finally bought the MFT bicycle die, and thought it was perfect for this challenge. I added a glittery seat for the bike, and the road die is from the Mama Elephant Cityscape die. The fluffy, flat bottom clouds are from Lawn Fawn.

So, that’s it for me ~ Thanks so much for stopping by!

Water Coloring Techniques

Hi everyone ~
My incredibly fun, and uber talented blog friend, Darnell has reached 500 followers and is celebrating with a NBUS challenge. NBUS is her acronym for 'Never Before Used Schtuff’! If you have never visited Darnell’s Blog, I hope you’ll take a moment to stop in to her ‘Playhouse’ and say hello and/or play along in her challenge! Darnell’s unique writing skills, gorgeous card designs and amazing sense of humor are only a few reasons she is loved by so many! So, of course, I couldn’t wait to join in the challenge, and I created 2 cards.

About two weeks ago, I bought the Penny Black Botanical Notes stamp after seeing all of the gorgeous creations by my sweet friend, Virginia Lu...take a look at all the beautiful cards she has created using this stamp Here. Talk about knowing how to 'Stretch your stamps’! Creative Genius...seriously!!! Here is my card:

I stamped the image in black archival ink and heat set it with clear embossing powder on to Tim Holtz water color cardstock. Then, I colored in the details using the technique 'Water coloring stamped images' taught by Jean Manis during the most recent Online Card Class Water Color for Card Makers, added a few gems and some WOS clear glitter to the butterfly...and that was it!

                              -----------------------------------------------------------------------

My 2nd card is also NBUS, and includes a water coloring technique that I learned in the same Online Card Class, but this time a ‘Soft Water Color Background’ taught by Agnieszka Malyscek (aka: Aga) Thankfully, the new Tim Holtz water color cardstock can withstand a LOT of water...lol! I also used my new ‘Cityscape’ die cut from Mama Elephant for this card...so fun!

So, that’s it for me today ~ Thanks so much for stopping by!

CAS(E) This Sketch Challenge

Hi everyone ~
I have a card to share for this week’s challenge at CAS(E) This Sketch, which was illustrated by Chrissy Larson. Here is my card:

I wanted to keep my design CAS, so I started with soft stone cardstock for my card base, and SSS cloud speech bubbles in soft pink and inlaid into the front panel. I die cut the 'Be’ four times in dove gray, and stacked them to add a little dimension, then stamped the sentiments to complement the die. Lastly, I added a few sequins and a touch of WOS to the die cut. Here is a close up of the sparkle:

My sincere thanks to my Blog Friend, Sarah...I must have loved her card so much that I unknowingly CASE'd her lovely idea to use speech bubbles for this card...my apologies for not seeing it sooner!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Tags, Scraplings, and a Recycled Item!

Hi everyone ~
This month at Virginia’s View it’s a Tag and Scrapling Challenge with a little twist ~ we should use a ‘recycled’ item! So, here is my tag:

Please excuse the dark photo. We've had a lot of rain and overcast skies, so I had to use my light box.

So, to create my tag, I used leftover cardstock from my stash, die cuts that I had set aside from previous projects, and for my recycled item, I used twine that was wrapped around supplies I ordered from an online store. I used distress inks to create a sky for the window, and stenciled the stars with white pigment ink. I had a lot of fun making this tag, and I plan to use it to attach to a gift.

So, that’s it for me ~ Thanks so much for stopping by!

Make a Wish!

Hi everyone ~
I have another quick post with just one card to share. I created this card for this week’s challenge at CAS(E) This Sketch. The fabulous inspiration sketch this week was designed by Julie Day ~

So, for my card, I used SSS Falling Stars stencil and inked it in a gradation of colors with yellow/peach/orange/red in sort of a swirly pattern. I couldn’t wait to play with my ‘new to me’ Pandamonium set, so I stamped and die cut him in gray, added a sparkly star in his hand, and an embossed sentiment. I added Wink of Stella clear glitter to all the colored stars and to the Panda, which is hard to see in the photo.

So, that’s it for me ~ Thanks so much for stopping by!

Red & Goldie!

Hi everyone ~
Just a brief post...I have three cards to share with you today. The first card is for this week’s challenge at Addicted to Stamps for the theme 'Make Your Mark’ (I used Copic markers), and for the Addicted to CAS challenge for the code word ‘Texture’:

Did you know that this stamp and die set was designed by JJ Bolton? And that she actually collaborated with her son to create all of these images...How fun is that? JJ talks about it in her post Here and Here.
I used a PTI Impression Plate for the card base, and my MFT ‘Blueprints 13‘ die for the banner (part of a very generous gift from a sweet blog friend).

----------------------------------------------------

My next card is also for the ATCAS Challenge, but for this one, I used the ‘Faux Texture’ technique, which I learned on Jen McGuire’s You Tube video Here

-----------------------------------------------------

My last card is for the Color Challenge at The Card Concept and this week’s challenge at CASology. The Cue Card for this week is ‘Bee’, and this is my very literal interpretation...Check out all the sparkle on that bumble bee ~

So, that’s it for me ~ Thanks so much for stopping by!
